Ready to face the world

June 8, 2009

033Here she is, ready to face the world.  See the determination in her face?

Notice that the omnipresent cell phone is still being held tightly in her grip.

Lots of people came to rejoice over her accomplishments.

And of course, proud parents…021

We got to the stadium plenty early, due to me thinking that the ceremonies started at 7:00pm and instead of 7:30.  The benefit was we got great seats.  The drawback is we had to sit in them until we had numb bums.

Rain was forecast, but the sky was blue and sunny when we sat down.  It remained so until the moment we all stood for the processional of graduates.  All 530-something of them.  It began raining and kept raining lightly through the processional, the Pledge of Allegiance, and the National Anthem.  And then we were instructed to sit down…on the well-watered bleachers. We then had wet numb bums.

An hour and a half later, the newly graduated class of 2009 moved their tassels and threw their caps into the air.  We all stood and began making our way to various vehicles and/or to find our freshly graduated youngsters.  At this point the sky opened up and poured.  There was no way around it, we were going to get darned wet.  But I don’t think those kids cared one bit.  I’m not sure they even noticed.

We’re proud of our girl.  She’s had some challenges along the way, but she’s made it this far and we can’t wait to see what’s next for her.  She’s a keeper!

YAY, HANNAH!
