In Defense of Art and the Artist

May 11, 2010

Donald Miller wrote this in his blog today.  It’s not long and it’s not stuffed full of heady ethereal concepts, so don’t be afraid to check it out even if you don’t really care about art.  He makes some great points.

In Defense of Art and the Artist.

I tasted it again and printed it out this time. Still yummy. So much packed into so few words. What did I do today? Tried to “get work done”……and how much satisfaction did I derive from it? Not a heck of a lot….my inner voice was aggravated that ” I was the only one around this house that works to keep the clutter down”…so my whole working time was filled with resentment toward these low lifes I live with…..aka my family!
Later by the grace of God, I realized how stupid it all was. So I made cornbread. It’s the same cornbread I’ve made before but while I was making it…I enjoyed creating it and stirring it and God enjoyed it too! He is waiting for it to come out of the oven, piping hot!
And ………speaking of hot…….I have only seen Don Millers pic on a book jacket and he was the nerdy type I thought he’d be……..BUT on his blog….my GOSH……the guy is HOT…and if I werent married……oh well, we won’t go there.
