Play through, indeed

October 14, 2011

It went like this:

Residents at clinic examined wrist.

Residents inspected previous x-ray.

Residents sent Sparkette for a new x-ray.

Attending physician examines Sparkette while residents call up the new x-ray on the computer screen.

Attending doesn’t like what she finds during examination and turns to residents and says “well, that buys her a cast”.

Residents and attending then actually inspect the x-ray.  And inspect it some more.

And then examine Sparkette some more.

And then inspect the x-ray some more.

And then declare the wrist unbroken.

They told us sprains can take up to six weeks to heal.  Sparkette has a brace and the usual ice-and-ibuprofen instructions.  She can type in this brace and unlike the splint, it’s adjustable and infinitely more comfortable.

So that’s that.  Whew.

I’m guessing this is the kind of sprain that impacts homework, household chores and picking up in general but is “helped” by video games and repetitious ice cream spoon lifts?
