Blasted

I saw her at it again today.  She works at KMart and is usually the cashier at the garden center door, but she obviously has another chore during this time of year.  Twice this week I’ve seen her watering the seedlings and plants for sale in the garden center.  Except…she waters them with the high intensity blast of the “jet” setting on the hose nozzle.

For the life of me, I don’t know how there’s a plant left in is peat pot or cell pack, because for a baby plant this would be the equivalent of being blasted by a fire hose.

Perhaps it’s true for plants too.  Perhaps that which doesn’t kill them will make them stronger.

Or maybe they only have to live long enough to be sold so they can die on someone else’s watch.
