The new-driven slush

October 1, 2012

Ivory soap.  Remember that stuff?   They still make it.  The product certainly has stood the test of time.  It was first sold in 1879.

The soap was famous for two things:

1.  It floated.

2.  It boasted that it was 99.44% pure.

I hear the newer formulations no longer float.  That really doesn’t matter much to me.  It’s just not a high priority for me when choosing a soap.

But that second par?  Thatt puzzles me.  99.44% pure.  Pure what?  If it’s less than 100% anything, how can it be called pure anyway?  And what exactly is in the .66% impure part?

I wonder if anyone even knows what the word pure really means.

And I wonder if anyone ever asks God’s opinion on it?

It doesn’t float because they added stuff. :(
