Valley view

August 6, 2013

Bones as far as the eye can see, bleached from the sun and covered in dust and the teeth marks of jackals.

Whose are they?  Hard to say.  No headstones.  No markers.  Just bones, baking in the midday heat.

But then the word goes forth and the air trembles violently as chaos becomes form and the bones are finally buried– not in the ground, but tucked deep within the strength and frailty of flesh.

A whirlwind descends and a vast army inhales and blinks in the bright light as they answer the summons to stand to attention on brand new legs, pulling themselves to heights unimaginable moments before.  The rumble of laughter pulses through their veins, the fuel and fruit of incomparable power.

I stand and watch and my spirit burns.
