As we see it
We dance on the ledges as if gravity were only a friendly suggestion and not a law.
They plead for us to come down, come down, or at least put on some sensible shoes and try some slower music.
But we throw back our heads and laugh as we turn up the volume. The night is no longer young and we don’t want to miss a moment of it, because there is glory to be found if one knows where to look.
How do we make them understand that we have nothing to lose– or at least, nothing that really counts? We do not fear slipping because our fall has already been broken…
…and because we have wings.
