Help a Sparky out, please!

September 26, 2013

I need a bit of feedback.  When I post to my blog, WordPress warns me in the preview that my readers might see an advertisement at the bottom of my post.  However, it doesn’t say what the advertisement might be or to whom they are marketing.  If you have seen or are seeing advertisements on my blog, would you please comment and tell me:

1.  What product/service is being advertised?

2.  How often do you see these advertisements?

3.  Do you find it annoying or distasteful, or do you simply ignore them?

Thank you so much for commenting with your feedback.  If you come here to read my blog, I really think I should get the first crack at annoying you, not WordPress or their featured adverts!

I don’t see any advertisements…at least not right now…I’ll keep checking. I know sometimes advertisements show up under my posts and sometimes they don’t

I believe I’ve seen ads but I’ve never paid attention to what it is.

Currently there’s a youtube video ad for IBM (I think…I didn’t watch the whole thing…sorry :)). I think you have to pay to be able to have no ads. The ads on the free blogs are how they make their money and are able to keep it free. I think I remember reading (when we set up our blog) that the ads are typically based on something you wrote about (guess the thinking is that you’re already attracting an audience who would be potentially interested in what they’re advertising). Doesn’t always work out that way…when we were writing about cutting up credit cards and getting debt free, there was a sidebar ad for Capital One…hah! Oh, and to answer your other questions, I see it at the bottom of every post. I’m so used to it, though, with all the various blogs I read, that I scroll right past them and don’t even really notice anymore, so no it doesn’t bug me. :)
