Any excuse for a party

February 2, 2015

Groundhog Day.

You know, most of the holidays we observe here in the United States have some sort of logical foundation.  We celebrate the birthdays of founding fathers and national leaders like George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Martin Luther King.  We have religious holidays like Christmas, Easter, St. Valentine’s Day, and St. Patrick’s Day.  And then there are patriotic celebrations like Flag Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Veteran’s Day, and Thanksgiving.

How we decided to give a day to celebrate a woodchuck with meteorological skills is beyond me.  I mean, we don’t even bake cakes or exchange gifts for it.

And people think International Lisa Day is ridiculous…
