Waving at heaven
It was early afternoon when I began driving across the Midbay bridge towards work. After many days of cold and dreary weather, nature woke up and decided to shine today. The wind was cool but the air was warm, and the sun sang through an amazing blue sky.
After passing through the toll booth I glanced out across the expanse of the bay. The water sparkled with the reflection of the sun, each dancing wave glittering with tiny pops of nearly blinding light. A huge swath of the bay sparkled like diamonds. It was breathtaking.
The scriptures say that if we remain silent and refuse to honor God, the very rocks will cry out in order to give Him the praise due Him. But as I looked at the water, it seemed to me that it was leaping and twirling, laughing and applauding, and for no other reason than to reflect His amazing creativity and goodness.
The water was glorious because its Maker is glorious. It couldn’t help itself; the moment it was touched by the sun it took praise to a whole new level.
It’s no wonder I love shimmer and glitter and sparkle so much.
