Change of season

October 25, 2015

With one hand on the doorknob

she turned

to give the room

one last glance.

Echoes of laughter and

whispers of tears

reverberated through

time

and space

and were just as real

to her heart as they were

when they were

first released

from the hearts of the daughters

born there.

She noted the changes

she’d brought to the room,

deeply satisfied

and grateful

to leave it richer than she found it.

The brief smile that

flashed across her face

as she turned the knob

and crossed

the threshold

quickly shifted as

she set her jaw in

resolute determination

and stepped into

the sun

and began to move

with the wind

into the unknown.

Love it! Love the picture it paints even if it makes me feel a bit sad.

It is a bit sad, isn’t it? But sometimes sad is just part of the journey. It’s neither good nor bad; it just is.
